扬州简介 brief introduction to yangzhou
location: yangzhou stands at the intersection of the yangtze river and the grand canal in the center of jiangsu province. being in the economic circle of the most vigorous yangtze delta, it is also an important port city of commerce and industry in the delta.行政区划：扬州现辖江都、邗江、广陵3个区；高邮、仪征2个县级市和宝应县；辖区总面积6634平方公里，户籍总人口458万人，市区面积2310平方公里，人口230万人。
administrative division: yangzhou governs three districts named jiangdu, guangling and hanjiang, two cities named gaoyou, yizheng and one county named baoying. the total governing area is 6634 km2 with a registered population of 4,580,000, meanwhile, the city area is 2310 km2 and the urban population is 2,300,000.
topography & climate: yangzhou falls within subtropical humid area and has a four distinct seasons and moderate climate. the landscapes are flat flood plain typical in the yangtze river delta. over 90% of yangzhou is plain in which countless rivers and lakes crisscross, edged by 80 km steady coastline of the yangtze river. it is rich in resources like grain, cotton, oil and aquatic products. it also abounds with mineral deposits such as petrol, natural gas, hot spring and ores.
